How Does Long-Term Parking at Wellington Airport Work?

Upon Arrival

For travellers with an online booking for the long-term car park, simply drive to the entry barrier on your day of departure.

The licence plate recognition technology will automatically identify your vehicle, opening the gate without the need for a ticket.

If the barrier doesn’t lift, press and hold the intercom for assistance, avoid taking a ticket manually.

IMPORTANT: If you're arriving from the city centre, you’ll first need to pass through the main entry gates. In this case, take a ticket upon entry (this applies to both online and drive-up bookings).

Keep this ticket with you, as you will need to insert it at the exit barriers near the Southern End to proceed to the Long Term Car Park.

If you didn't pre-book your spot, take a ticket at the Long-Term Car Park's entry gate.

Upon Return

If you pre-booked your spot, drive to the exit gate and it will lift automatically.

If you overstayed your pre-booked parking duration, you can pay the remaining balance with a credit card or payWave at the exit barrier.

Travellers can also pay with EFTPOS at the pay station located in the waiting area of the long-term car park. No cash will be accepted anywhere.

If you didn't pre-book your spot, pay for your ticket with a credit card or payWave at the exit barrier, or with EFTPOS at a pay station within the waiting area of the long-term car park.

Shuttle Service

The shuttle operates daily, Monday to Sunday, during terminal hours, with stops conveniently located at the Long Term Car Park entrance and Terminal Level 0 near Door H, next to the rental car counters.
📣On weekends, please note a 30-minute break at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The shuttle then resumes its 15-minute service intervals.
The shuttle is not equipped for children’s car seats; alternative arrangements can be made by contacting the airport.

How Do I Get to the Long-Term Car Park at Wellington Airport?

To get to Long-Term Parking at Wellington Airport from Wellington CBD, follow these directions:

Start in Wellington CBD – Head southeast on State Highway 1 (SH1) towards the airport.
Take the Terrace Tunnel Exit – Merge onto SH1 following signs for the airport.
Continue on SH1/State Highway 1 – Follow the road along Mount Victoria Tunnel. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs for Wellington Airport.
Go through the Mt Victoria Tunnel – After exiting the tunnel, continue straight on SH1, which becomes Ruahine Street.
Turn left onto Wellington Road – Follow the signs for Wellington Airport, staying in the left lane.
Continue on State Highway 1 – Keep heading straight as the road becomes Cobham Drive.
Turn right onto Calabar Road – You will see signs for Wellington Airport. Stay in the right lane as you approach the airport.
Follow signs to the Long Term Car Park – Once on airport grounds, follow the signage for the Long Term Car Park.

You will find the designated parking area is further away from the terminal, but shuttle services are available.

To Book

Travellers can reserve this car park either online or in person.

You can pre-book parking up to 2 hours before arrival or as far as 12 months in advance.

For those who prefer to book on their day of departure, drive up to the airport's main entry gate and take a ticket.

You will then need to take another ticket at the entrance of the Long-Term Car Park.

Payment can be made upon exit using credit card or payWave, or with cash or EFTPOS at the pay stations.

Electronic payments are also accepted at the 'Parking Services' office.

To Cancel

You can amend or cancel your booking for a full refund as long as it’s done at least 24 hours before your scheduled arrival.
